Been having problems with the blog as of late. For some reason any of my posts labeled for movies or television were scheduled for deletion after a portion of time. SO, I lost all of that stuff. Bummer. But I think the problem is fixed and here we go!
I had heard White Collar
was good but just never sat down to watch an episode. My good buddy Matt loaned me his dvd set and I sat down and was immediately hooked.
Neal Caffrey is a forger and a thief who breaks out of prison only to be caught by his nemesis, FBI agent Peter Burke. The reason Neal has broken out is to find his girlfriend Kate. Burke makes a deal with Caffrey that he will keep him out of prison if he will work with the FBI and wear an ankle bracelet so they always know his whereabouts.
This begins a fun relationship between Caffrey and Burke, who work quite well together in solving cases and catching criminals. The scripts are tight and interesting, with humor, action and an addictive proponent that keeps you wanting more.
The cast is stellar with Matt Bomer as Caffrey, Tim Dekay as Burke, Tiffani Thiessen (Saved By the Bell) as Burke's wife Elizabeth, Willie Garson as Mozzie, a friend and co-conspirator of Caffrey (who I think is hilarious), and many other characters that add to the spice of the show.
The first season is phenomenal and the finale ends with a surprising bang. I just received Season 2 disc one in the mail from Netflix and can't wait to jump in. I've talked about the show so much that my wife wants to watch season one now. My parents were able to pick up a dvd set for me on the cheap at a Blockbuster that was going out of business.
It's a smooth show that doesn't take itself too seriously. I enjoy the fact that the crimes are white collar in nature (hence the name of the show) so most of the criminals aren't your average low life scumbags depicted in every other show. Instead, Caffrey and Burke have to raise their game to meet criminals that are on the same intellectual level as they are. It's definitely worth checking out!
