Thoughts on Reading..(Part Five)

If you love reading and have a limited budget, there are two things that are a life saver. One is your public library which is full of treasures.

The other is blogging for free books. Book companies want free press and one way they accomplish this is by providing you with free books as long as you review them on your blog and post reviews on a retail site.

It's a win-win situation for both you and the publishing company. You get free books and they get free advertising.

Here are a few publishers that provide you with their products for review.

It's been a blessing and heck, it's free books. If you have a blog and love to read, this is the program for you!

End of year reading...

Here is the list of books I am trying to finish up before the end of the year. I am not really a focused reader. Instead, I read based on mood and subject matter so I jump from book to book. These are books I currently started or started and have picked up and put down throughout the year but need to finish up.

Book Review: Patton (The Generals)

Being a World War 2 fanatic, I was interested in reading another book on Patton. Too many get bogged down into details that aren't interesting, and such has been the case with biographies of Patton that I have slugged through.

Von Hassell's short read was what I have been looking for. It is a condensed read about Patton, but one that is very informative and hits on the highlights of his personal life as well as his military career. There is enough there to educate you and keep you interested, but not enough that this is a book I recommend to fill you in on Patton's life. It is a foundational read and one that a reader can build off of.

I liked the feel of the book overall. I liked the cover and the way the book looks. It has a cool texture to it and it stands out on my enormous bookshelf.

I would highly recommend it for those who are students of war or for those who might want a weekend read of one of history's most decorated and interesting military leaders.

Patton is a fascinating character and I highly recommend this book.
